Newpark Comprehensive School bans single use plastics

Students at Newpark Community School are currently driving a campaign to highlight the harmful effects of plastic pollution and its impacts on communities both locally and globally as part of an ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Project.

Aware that action speaks louder than words the students formed a group titled ‘SAY NO TO PLASTIC’. Their aim was simple, to ban single-use plastics from their school!

Assisting the students is Susan Adams, a sustainability expert commissioned by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the Dept. Communications, Climate Action and Environment via the LA21 Environment Protection Fund.

In collaboration with their principal, Derek Lowry, teachers, parents and community stakeholders, the SAY NO TO PLASTIC team hope to successfully eradicated single use platics from their school.
